The Magic of Oil Cleanser: Time to Transition

Greetings, Merigold Community!

You've been with us on this journey as we continually explore new and effective ways to prioritize your skin health. This week, we're delving into the world of oil cleansers - a skincare innovation that's transforming the way we think about face washing.

Yes, you heard it right, oil cleansers. We know it may seem counterintuitive to use oil to clean your skin, but bear with us. The science is compelling, and the results are even more so.

Why Use an Oil Cleanser?

Like Attracts Like:

The principle behind oil cleansing is simple yet powerful. It's based on the fundamental chemistry concept that like substances dissolve like. This means that the oils in the cleanser bind with the sebum on your skin and the oil-based residue of makeup and sunscreen, effectively removing them when you rinse.

Maintains Your Skin’s Natural Balance:

Traditional face washes can strip your skin of its natural oils, leaving it dry and triggering it to produce more oil to compensate. Oil cleansers clean without disrupting the skin's natural lipid barrier, leaving your skin balanced and hydrated.

Great For All Skin Types:

Whether you have dry, oily, or combination skin, oil cleansers can work for you. They nourish dry skin and can help regulate oil production in oily skin.

Gentle Yet Effective:

Oil cleansers are excellent at dissolving even the most stubborn waterproof makeup without the need for harsh rubbing or tugging, thus minimizing physical irritation to the skin.

How to Use an Oil Cleanser?

OIL cleansing

Using an oil cleanser can be tailored to suit your individual preferences, and we recommend trying out these two methods:

STEP ONE:

Pick your preferred choice between these two methods.

Direct Application:

First, dispense a suitable amount of the oil cleanser onto your hands. Then, apply it directly to your dry face, gently massaging it in circular motions. This method helps to thoroughly dissolve makeup and grime, particularly in areas with more oil or heavier makeup.

Cotton Round Application:

Alternatively, you can apply a generous amount of oil cleanser to a cotton round. (Pro Tip: wet and wring out the cotton round with water prior to applying your oil cleanser- this helps to minimize the cotton round soaking up the oil and decreases the amount of oil needed). Gently sweep the cotton round across your face, allowing the cleanser to lift away impurities and makeup. This method is excellent for a gentle, refreshing cleanse that leaves your skin feeling clean and nourished. Use both sides of the cotton round.

STEP TWO:

Regardless of the method you choose, after application, rinse your face thoroughly with lukewarm water. Some of our community members also prefer to remove the oil cleanser using a warm, damp cloth for a mini spa-like experience at home.
